Pillar gauge install problem

Ok, I had my pillar gauge installed today. Turbo boost gauge works great but the tranny and EGT gauges are not working. I brought it back to the shop and they told me that it was installed correctly and everything worked....Is it possible a fuse burned out? Isspro gauges look great but what could be the reason. I will be bringing it back to the shop tomorrow....

Re:Pillar gauge install problem

Who installed them? A Dodge dealer? Where did you buy them? If you don't mind me asking, how much were they? Thanks.

Re:Pillar gauge install problem

One of those performance truck shops installed the gauges. I bought the gauges from City Muffler in OK. I paid $700.00 for the gauges pillar mount and Edge EZ chip....

yea, check your fuses ,both tranny &pyro gauges are eletric gauges, also check the wire that they run from the gauges to the fuse box make sure it hasn't pulled lose.

Re:Pillar gauge install problem

I remember reading that if the wires that connect the thermocouple and the gauge are soldered together, it will not work. I think it said this in the Isspro instructions. The Trans temp sender might not be grounded properly. Is it in the line or the pan?

Re:Pillar gauge install problem

Took the truck back to the shop and they got the trans temp gauge working(showed 168' during drive home) but no go on the ETG gauge. They said they checked everything and its got power but the needle will not move. Sending unit? Gauge?????? They instlled the sensor not int the exhaust manifold but right before where the exhaust pipe clamps onto the turbo. They told me that they put in this location because they didn't want shavings in the turbo......Any suggestions?

Re:Pillar gauge install problem

Sounds like you might have a bad gauge ect. I would think that Isspro has a tech line. I would have a talk with them and see what they say. To put the probe for the EGT gauge in the manifold all you have to do is take the turbo off. That way you can make sure shavings will not get where they don't belong.

Re:Pillar gauge install problem

Called the guy who sold me the gauges. He told me that he got a bad batch of pyrometer gauges. He is sendding me out a new one on Monday. I wanted the hole drilled in the manifold but they did it just above where the exhaust clamps on the turbo. I guess that is OK, but I believe the exhaust temp will be a few degrees higher than the gauge reads since its not in the manifold. Shouldn't be a problem, I don't tow anything more than a boat. Love the Edge EZ though...

Re:Pillar gauge install problem

I have my thermocouple installed just downstream (post) from the turbo. I like it here because it is easier to monitor shut down temp of 300 deg post turbo.
What didi they do to get the tranny temp to work?

Re:Pillar gauge install problem

I'm not sure what they did to get the trany temp working. It looks like they did a good job installing everything, nothing sloppy looking. My tranny temp reads between 160 and 170 ' during normal driving. Is that the right temp? I assume that it would be higher when towing...

Re:Pillar gauge install problem

It depends on the outside temp. 90 deg and city driving, mine will get to 180. In vegas in summer it will get to 200 deg with the air on.

Re:Pillar gauge install problem

Got new EGT gauge and installed it today. I accidently hit a couple wires together and brew out a fuse(#3) which contols the ignition. My dash lit up like a X-Mas tree. Air Bag, Brake Light, Check Engine light and ABS stayed on after the truck was started. I replaced the fuse, made sure the nothing was touching and fired up the truck.

EGT gauge works great but the engine light stays on and will not go off. Did I trip the computer when I blew the fuse????? All the other lights went off but only the engine light is still on.....

Sometimes it will stay on for about four or five on-off cycles, then go off, which is probably what'll happen in this case.
