A-pillar cover with tweeter

I'm sure it's been discussed but I'm low on time, so apologies for repeating over-asked questions!

I bought the A piller three pod plus tweeter cover, and in the instructions they talk about cutting down the stock tweeter mount so that you can put the cover on. I don't like the sound of mutilating the stock cover making it unusable if I wanted to go back to stock. No doubt a new one would cost an unreasonable fortune. Is it possible to remove the stock and replace it with the pod mount cover? I can't even tell how it is mounted since there are no visible screws! Being of the other gender, I don't have a lot of experience with this stuff anyway, but I'm game to learn!

TIA,
betsycam

ps. I live in San Mateo county in CA, so if there are any folk in this area out there that have done guages and could give advice, please contact me!

You can remove the stock cover and replace it with the new one. You will have to drill a hole through the new cover into the metal pillar behind it

You can use just the replacement cover. The stock cover uses clips, so you'll have to come up with a way to secure the new pillar cover. One well placed screw should do it. Good luck.

Most people drill holes in the stock one so the wires can go through it, the overlay is not very "beefy" so you lay it over the stocker, to remove the stock one sit in the seat and gently pull it towards you, it will just "pop" off.

Take the old pod off. There are some plastic fasteners back there that will probably break when you take if off. After getting the gages in and the new a-pillar in place, you can drill one hole toward the top and it will hold it in place. Be sure to get your weather stripping lapped over the edge of the new pod.

There are other threads to search and others out there that know a lot more about this then me.

I used a peice of 3/4"x either 1/2 or 3/4" wood mounted to the apiller frame with those little plastic lisecnce plate brakcets stuck in the sloted holes on the metel. then drilled through the wood and screwd it into those clips. the wood was about 10" or so long? then mounted the aguges and put the new apiller pod up and drilled 2 holes one above the top gauge and one between top and middle gauges into the wood behind it. then used 2 wood screws each I think were 1/2" with big button heads. very solid. I've hit tuns of huge bumps, potholes, curbs. never misses abeat.

Or you can check my member gallery and see exactly how I did mine. I used the a piller cover, purchased a dodge a pillar cover that doesn't have a tweeter and cut the clips off the back and epoxied them to the cover. It clipped into my '00 just like a factory cover.

Thank you all who replied - it can be done, and with your descriptions I think I can handle this!

I ended up buying a stock apillar w/o the tweeter hole and just drilled out a bid hole for all of my wires and tube to go through. The triple apillar snugged right up to the stock one and is held in place by four little plastic plugs that came with the triple apillar. I bought some factory paint and painted it first though. It turned out very nice.
Good luck with it if you haven't already finished it..
