Are the piers 10 plate and Tst the same thing.
Im Looking to get a plate in a week or so and It looks like everyone here recommends the 10 as the best all around plate.I am opening the air flow at the same time with the big air fliter and taking off the stock muffler and cat but staying with 3 inch.Im going to do the transgo shift kit at first also.I have the guages ordered already. Is there any difference between the piers and tst 10 plate ,is one better than the other. How far should it be slid back so it wont put out too much for my transmission until i can upgrade it.thanx for any advice

I started out with a 5 and later switched to 10, world of difference, you'll love it.
My stock auto went 210k miles before I put in a Suncoast, over 150k of those miles were with a 10. I slid the plate forward after the new trans but really didn't need to, stock position is fine. I drive sensibly though, I'll bet some folks could tear up a tranny in a few hundred miles with a 10.

yes, there's a world of difference, but fueling also depends on where you position the plate, so no one particular plate is exactly right, just more of what's to your liking. however, the #10 is generally considered the best all-around light hp plate.

Thanx guys for the advice,a 10 is what im getting.I dont jam the pedal much,i like to get good mileage so my trans should be ok for a while.I saw tst recommends that afc spring should i get that at the same time i put in the plate.later on i guess ill put in those 3k springs,do they really make that much difference.

The 3k springs make a lot of difference especially towing with a manual, the AFC springs that TST is trying to sell you make very little difference. I've always been able to adjust the AFC housing and star wheel to get the same effect as the AFC spring kit.

The 3000GSK is really one of the best changes that you can make. In addition to extra OOMPH in the usable RPM range, letting the truck pull in 3rd locked at highway speeds will SAVE your tranny.

When all the toys are in place to handle the fuel..ie trans, exhaust, air intake, turbo or turbos..change the #10 plate to the #100 plate! A #10 plate on the bottom and a #0 plate on top.. That would make for a wild ride..This plate is not for the faint of heart
