I pushed her up to 20 psi this morning on my way to school. I don't even know if my boost leak tester setup can put more than 20 psi into the system because my intake gasket is leaking a little and my filler is just a tire valve stem.

Wastegate is definitely opening a smidge around 16 psi. It took a lot of fuel and smoke to push it up to 20. I just need my cheap ebay boost controller to show up.

I am surprised at how hot the coldpipe gets from normal driving. The after cooler on these trucks must really do alot heat exhanging. I never reached down into my oily pit of an engine bay to touch the coldpipe, but now that it is conveniently in reach, I noticed how warm it gets.

Update, just put a pair of vice grips on the line, got tired of waiting for that dang boost controller. I just tickled 31 psi boost. This turbo is noticeably stronger than the HX35. I actually spools a hair slower to be honest. Must have something to do with the bigger compressor wheel.

I am scared to really get on it till the weekend, should I push it anymore?

I bet the larger compressor is probably just a little more sluggish due to rotational inertia. It's probably pretty subtle, though.

I just changed my oil and I pulled a few extra quarts= diesel mixing in for sure. I should get new injector o-rings tomorrow, I had to order them. Once I get my oil situation under control, I'm going to push it really hard. I have already pushed the stocker up to 43 psi or so, so 50 psi on this turbo should be the same crazy drive pressure and such. My goal is to dyno this setup and get the cheapest 500 HP on the block. Not useable 500 but rather dynoable 500. I'm sure most guys will say it can't be done with Jammer 5's and the rest of my crappy cheap setup, but we'll see as soon as I get her dialed in.

Bjans, what color is your truck I went to weekend on the edge.

If it is on funny fuel, it'll be our little secret. You know, a sort of promotion for Quadzilla, Adrenaline, Jammers and 500HP!

What if there is enough for 450? I'm still ahead in the money game that every college student must play to survive. I don't beat on my truck like some guys I know, for the most part I drive around with Adrenaline on 1 or 2. I don't really tow anymore, I just like to pull hard through one or two gears, 0 to speed limit. I'm not too much of a Hot Rod. But I would like to strap down on a dyno and see what this setup will do.

3rd gen guys have made 500+, why can't I get close to 500?

500hp with the stock turbo?

Keep in mind that a 3rd gen engine has higher EGT tolerances, and they can survive conditions that might hurt your VP truck.

I'd probably have to sneak a cam, o-rings, studs, and some funny gas to reach 500! My user name is Big Blue, I might have contracted the ever contagious Big Blue Syndrome. That poor guy is having trouble staying at 400 HP.

The highest 3rd gen claim that I have seen was 514hp. Lots of guys have put down 504,506,506,509,510, etc etc. Thats why I think that with enough finesse, this turbo could make 500 on a VP truck.
