Performance help
Just picked up a 2000 2500 quad cab. I currently have a silver bullet from my 05, will it fit this truck?
The truck is a manual trans, if that silver bullet fits n this truck what injectors, clutch and power box should i look at. I do tow about 6000 lb trailer once a month or so.
ps, thinking of the glacier fuel system as well

It will fit as far as bolting to the manifold. But you'll need a new downpipe and such to fit the truck and an adapter to hook it up to the intake plumbing. The common rail trucks have the elbow built into the turbo, while the 2nd gen's have an adapter in the plumbing. Take a gander at it and you'll see.
Don't expect it to spool as well on your 2000 as it did on the 05, the fueling on the VP trucks just can't hit as hard and spool a big charger as fast.
That said, you can run some pretty mig sticks with that turbo. I'd say a Mach 6 would work (big injector--220hp) and for electronics, a Drag Comp is a safe starting point. Clutch wise, I'd say a dual disk if you are really reaching for the HP or want to sledpull. I personally prefer a single disk (better shifting), but a Con FE will be grabby for hooking up your 6K trailer.
Definitely upgrade the fuel system. The glacier setup is pretty good from what I hear.

You can get a different cover for the SB and it should bolt up.... As for injectors how much HP are you wanting? If you run a fueling box and say Mach 4's you will be around 525 RWHP, jump to Mach 6++ and you should be 600-625 RWHP.

Naturally I want the most power I can get and still have good manners on the street. In the third gen world the smarty seems to have taen a spot light from the edge products and others . I had a comp on my 01 (nice unit) I will go back to that I guess. With the mach 4's or 6's will it smoke at idle? Id like to be somewhat tame til I mash it but of course work the turbo to its maximum happy efficiency

You'll get a mild haze at idle with the bigger sticks, but nothing like steady black stream...
Smarty rocks on 2nd gen's too-- but Marco can't do as much with the dumber electronics on the 2nd gen trucks.

Personally I don't like the Smarty for the 24v trucks.... Seems the throttle is not linear and it is hard on the trans due to aggressive fueling and light small throttle peadl movement. The Smarty also does not really like fueling boxes, guys use it but the dyno shows there are better options available. The Edge products have the best street manners, although the new Quadzilla race box looks very promising.....
Normally the Mach 4--7 injectors are clean at idle, unless extremely hot outside then you may have a slight haze. The turbo will like the 6's over the 4's just due to its size. Spoolup is not bad but its not an HX35. You will be able to tow 6K with this setup no problems as long as its not through CO passes.

I run my Smarty at 5-- I can't see the need for any more aggressive than that, especially with larger injectors.. You end up bringin in the fuel faster than ANY turbo can spool, so it just smokes.
With stock injectors, maybe 7 or 9 is more useful.
Another option is the Quad XZT+-- I've been wanting to try that.

No way its going to be ready.... I did get to the machine shop about 10 days ago and spent 3 hours drilling and tapping holes in the block. I would suspect about another 20+ hours on the block and everything at the machine shop and then assembly. I got the chargers either in or on the way so maybe I can have them together soon. I will try and post a pic of the head that is complete, it turned out pretty good. Hopefully this thing will actually perform once done.

Back to the subject at hand- a ceramic puck dual disk clutch is plenty smooth for backing and there are also organic facings that would be even smoother. The south bend ofe single disk is known to be smooth also, but its only rated at 450 =( There are other clutches out there, but southbend is all that I've tried and its put up 4th gear launches and all sorts of other abuse.
