PDRHX40 Wastegate adjustment

PDRHX40 Wastegate adjustment
Hey guys was out in my truck last night with the EDM's and all and I can't seem to get my boost to work as you guys said a 40 would. If I get on it the boost climbs to 30 quick and if Im really in it A LONG time then I can get it to top out at 36 so I think I need to adjust the wastegate to 40 psi. I would ask piers how but the time zone screws us up. I also thought that the 40 would just zip right up there when you got into it mine if its at say 8 psi and I get on it, the thing will charge to 30 and sit there till it hits OD then I gotta back outta it cause my EGT's are approacing 1500 degreese pre turbo. Is this normal? Im afraid to keep my foot into it! Cruising EGT is about 600 but if I get into it with my EDM stage 2's and my comp on 4 or 5 my egt's soar to 1400 in like 3 seconds, then I back out of it because Im afraid they will keep going. The most boost I have seen yet is 36 PSI with the 40 Im hoping and adjustment will cure my problem. By the way what EGT can I run before it will burn down?

Re:PDRHX40 Wastegate adjustment
I adjust mine using my tire machine here at the school. The turbo has to be off. I hook the air hose up off of the machine and watch where the opening of it starts and where it is fully open at pressure wise. To adjust you take the waste gate housing off and lengthen the rod to get a high boost level. With my HX-40 I adjusted it to be fully open at 40 PSI and it would still make 42 psi in 4th and46 psi in 5th.

if you have any more questions e-mail me at rawsondr@datc.net

Re:PDRHX40 Wastegate adjustment
I was getting 34-35 in 2nd, 36-38 in 3rd, 42-46 in 4th, & as high as 48 in 5th with the waste gate open. From the lack of boost it could possibly be a leaky hose or not enough fuel. Check and tighten all your hose clamps and check your fuel pressure....

Fuel pressure is fine Im seeing 15# at idle and no less then 8 # at WOT Im gonna check the hoses this weekend to see if there is a leak somewhere.

Re:PDRHX40 Wastegate adjustment
If your turbo is new don't fool around with adjusting the wastgate until you talk to Piers. Changing the setting may void the warrenty on the turbo. If the turbo has been around for while then shorten the linkage by 1 turn to increase boost by 2-3 psi.
