PDR Quickspool cam?
#2
i have a pdr cam in my truck. with the twins i didnt notice the turbos lighting any sooner. but a small set of twins like mine start at like 1200 anyways. i did notice it lowered my egts and dropped my boost about 6lbs.

I liked mine, it helped lots on the drivablity of the truck. Its was just like it states, its will lower egt's, smoke, and helps some on spool-up. Ported heads with the cam is sweet deal if you can do your own and worth the time investment.

I never drove a truck with the helix installed, so my view is just for the PDR. How does your truck sound when idling? Mine kinda sounds like a 12v but with some of the clangy vp. PDR just redid their cam about 2-3 yrs ago, so I don't know which cam you got. I got one of the first second gen re-designed cams. I liked mine, but its three years old. Its way better than stock. Don does good stuff and its on sale so, its a good buy as well. When I overhaul my truck I will try the helix cam, if their still available in a year or so. Inventory is low, and I don't know if Don's still making more. There are a few different vendors out there for cams.

wurkenman ~ you wont be disappointed with the QS. Both early and late versions were really well liked.
Unless they changed it since Piers left the new PDR quick spool was the grind that Piers came up with for the third gen he had. It worked really well so they cut the same grind for all three gens and results were great for all. I have never run one but I know a few guys with them and they seem to work awesome. Based on the results of the two cams in Harrys and my trucks it seems the H2 has a little longer legs in the upper rpms than the QS but I think the QS hits a little lower (200rpm)? It would be nice to see some dyno graphs with cam swaps for definitive results because seat of the pants feel is tough to tell.
