Painting Tow Mirrors, Bumpers, Trim etc.?
I'm thinking of painting all the stuff on my truck white like the rest of the truck. I wasn't sure how to go about painting the mirrors, around the taillights, and the black trim down the side. What kind of prep will it all need and what kind of paint will work good for this application? As for my replacement bumpers, I hear powdercoat is a great primer so do I just scuff it up a bit and paint right over it? I think I will leave the door handles black because it seems like they would scratch pretty easy with keys, do ya'll think it will look tacky to have these still black? Basically I'm just needing general info on how to go about all this. Any help or advice would be great, Thanks!

Well, I'm not to sure how all of this would look but if you do decide to do it you have to make sure everything is preped good. I would first scuff up the parts with red scotchbrite, then I would clean them off with a good cleaner like final klean or something simalar, next I woul spray adhesion promoter on all of the the parts, prime them, wet sand them with 600 grit, then its up to you if you would want to single stage them or base clear. If you can find sport tail lights the trim is already painted.

No offense to the real bodyshop guys on here, but I used a $5 can of American-Traditions by Valspar plastic paint on my '98 bumper. It turned out good enought to get me by until I can save the money for repainting the whole truck. I prep-ed with lauquer thinner.

SO you wanna copy me eh? Thats okay I copied someother member here..
Krylon fusion is great works for me and easy to touch up. Although I havent had to yet. I just rubbed everything down with laquer thinner really well right before I painted the parts..
