Pacbrake issue

I have the vacuum-operated Pacbrake on the truck in my sig. The solenoid that activates the vacuum valve has failed. Anyone have a source for this part? It doesn't appear on Pac's website......

If you call PacBrake, they have one. It's about 80 bucks as I remember.

They also have instructions for disassembling and cleaning it. Do it off the truck, as the parts are small and weird sizes. The screws, for instance, are 2-64 x 1 1/8". Not easy to find. a 2 x .4 x 30 metric will work in a pinch. The O-ring, likewise is hard to find.

Other than that, clean it out with a little WD-40 and put it back together and it should work fine as long as the coil isn't burnt out.

PacBrake also has a special high temp synthetic lube for the brake itself that is a must to have. They can sell it to you direct.

I have also found that if your brake booster is getting bad and dropping vacuum, the PacBrake gets sluggish.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to call them today.

And yes, unfortunately the coil is smoked......

I'd clean it before buying a new one. They are very simple and the only problem usually is they're plugged up with soot.
I have to clean mine at least once a year.

I would have, but the coil is fried. Had to pony up for a new one.
Thanks all!

Pray tell, how do you fry a 100% duty cycle solenoid coil?
Must be a story/warning here.

Trick I learned with PacBrake:
If you ask for the parts dept. instead of the order desk and tell him a part broke he sends it for free.
The order desk folks want you to pay.
They've even sent me free new cylinders a couple of times.

No story/warning and I don't know why it doesn't work......it simply doesn't. Good power/ground and the valve is not stuck......the only other conclusion is a bad solenoid.
