Unhappy Pac Brake & ATS Torque Commander

Hi,

Anyone out there running the ATS torque commander and Pac Brake setup? I just finished installing mine today, but it doesn't seem to be working in the manner described in the ATS manual.
They suggest that when you have the Pac Brake (PB) enabled with is power switch ON and the ATS box turned on that once you have reached a speed that enables the torque converter lock-up, lifting your foot off the accelerator should turn on the PB and it will stay on until either you re-apply you foot to the gas or your speed drops below the lock-up set point on the torque commander.

Well, mine turns on as soon as the torque converter locks, no matter if I'm in the throttle or not. I have wired the system as per ATS instructions. I would call ATS but thier closed today.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

The brake needs to get its "brake" signal for the APPS or from a micro switch on the pedal. Sounds like you did not follow the pac brake instructions. I have my DTT smart controller on an old style floor head light switch. And the Banks brake smart box gets it's power via the same switch, but also has a dash switch. So I can have DTT Controller and Brake, or DTT Controller only, but not brake only enabled. Again there is a difference between providing power to the brake and signal to activate it with the Banks brake, as it has it's own smart box for warm up and disconnect at low speed. Read your Pac Brake instruction again, as the ATS smart controllers in going to not be able to control the brake most likely. SNOKING

I am thinking the same thing as far as a secondary trigger for the PB. In the PB instructions it does show the curcuit tied into the ECM or wired into a micro switch on the throttle. But the ATS instructions which are based on using the Pac Brake system (solenoid activated), that I guess superceed the PB intstructions show the Torque Commander unit wired directly to the PC solenoid. It's supposed to be designed to work seemlessly with the Pac Brake.

Called ATS,
they told me that the Torque Commander had to work in conjunction with the PacBrake wiring harness (either manual trigger or ECM triggered) so there is nothing wrong , my Pacbrake I bought used with no wireing harness.
I would be nice if ATS would have made this point a little more clearly in their literature and their wireing schematics which show no reference to the PacBrake harness.
