P7100 experts, differences between 175 and 215HP
I recently got the 10 plate and 4GSK installed into my 95. Wow what a difference. My truck still doesnt smoke that hard and boost is pegging at 25PSI. My pyro, pre turbo, hits 900 degrees after a couple 0-70 runs. I think the fuel is running out. Would adding bigger delivery valves bring it up close to the 215 pump levels or are there more differences than the DV, barrels, and internal pump timing? In all the reading I have done using the search option I never did find the differences in pumps. I dont want to really bomb this truck much more but I would love to max out the setup. Any help is appreciated.

From what I've read there is more than just a delivery valve difference between the two. My buddy has a 160 pump with a #4 plate, twins, and a 3k and he dynoed 380 to the wheels. He bought a 215 pump from piers and they told him that if he left all of his current mods on there and just swapped the pumps then he should be at around 500hp. Big difference right there and I don't think delivery valves are gonna getcha what ya need.

are plungers part of the barrell assembly? I am trying to get a good understanding of the internals of this pump. If there are things that can be adjusted easily either at the house or not to in depth on a flow bench I may do them to up the power a little more. Is the cam inside the pump changeable or is it a mute point? I know the 215 pump is times a few degees different and that is why they say to add less timing to the reg engine timing.

Have you set your timing up yet? 15-16 with the extra fuel from the #10 would help. I would also check your fuel pressure and see where that's at for starters. If it's low, look for restriction - filters/overflow valve, etc. If it is ok then your choices for more power would be injectors (which I would recommend first) or add DV's (do this later). The DV's will add more power with alot more heat. You could go with some 215 or 300 injectors if you can find them which are suppose to be a little milder (less heat/smoke). A set of 370's will definitely light things up but may give you too much heat for your turbo. You can remove the injection pump and have it bench tested and the fuel increased by adjusting the plungers and barrels. This is a bit more involved and will not yield as much as the above steps. The shape of the plungers is one of the main differences between the 160 and 215 HP pumps. Check for some old links from Don M and others on "P7100" or search "215" pump or try "913". These may give you more. I can't find it right now but there was a great link/debate a few years back discussing the 215 pump.

Cool thanks guys. No I havent done the timing yet but that will be soon. I was actually going to today but the priority got shifted to burning leaves as we are expecting rain tomorrow I am planning on doing the 215 injectors once another member gets his 370s installed. 370s would be a little hot for me. I need the truck as a daily driver and a back up for hauling a trailer and a bigger turbo isnt in the budget. I am just trying to get all I can out of this setup. Right now I am getting more of a grey haze than coal out the tail pipe under WOT. Actually I am getting less smoke now with the 10 plate than I was before but the extra boost from the boost elbow install is doing its job. I have been doing all the reading I can find but it has been a little tricky as ya need more than 3 letters to search. Probably spent over 100+ hours in the archives on here and over at TDR. I would like to know this thing inside and out even if I cant do all the work being I would need a flow bench.
