I just read a thread on it and some say 10k some say $1500.00, i was confused. I know Sheid diesel does a conversion. Whats your reason for the swap the..the VP reliability I assume.... I just replaced one I my truck I just bought a few months ago...

its just somethin outta the ordinary... not somethin id do ne time soon deff not till the truck is paid for but just curious on how it is all set up and what i would take....i had the choice between 12v and 24v and went with 24 cuz its the daily driver and i dont want to be set HOT all the time although i keep it hot most of the time lol but with the 12v its not as easy to turn down as a push of the button like a 24... so sayin that it woulnd't be till i have onther truck for a daily driver taht id like to lookin the conversion and make this truck a puller

It drives better than it did with the VP, power is better. Its more finicky when its cold out (10 C or colder), but nothing letting it idle for a couple minutes won't fix. Cost for me was around $4k, including pump and a new FASS setup. Could've used my old one, but I figured I should get the hi pressure unit. Mileage is (was) up, but this ULSD has been keeping me down. Last summer I was getting low 20's, now I'm getting 18 pretty consistantly.
On a bit of a side note, everyone keeps talking about how you can just turn down a 24v but can't a 12v, but a little self control on smoke pedal and you're good to go. I drove my truck smoke free for about 10 months with a gutted AFC. I ungutted it a couple months ago just so I didn't have to be as vigilant. I do, however, miss the abiliy to smoke at will.
