a P pump question....

I am currently doing a complete rebuild on a 24V that I also plan to P pump. I will be taking the 215 pump to a shop to get .191 DV's, and 4GSK installed, and will have them bench the pump, but my question is this, can I have them max the pump out and not necesarly use all of that fuel? I would hate to have to have the pump taken to the shop again down the road if I decided I needed more fuel. I am not building this engine for huge HP, but was not sure if I had it maxed out if it would just be sending more fuel back to the tank if the engine can't use it....if that's the case I am fine with it, but if it'll damage injectors or put any strain on anything else I won't have them max it out. Thanks

Typically 215HP pump will max out around the 450-500cc area, depending on the bench. The pump will just have more capacity (more power). I have done several pump tweaks with the pump still in the truck.

The only real down side is that you will have alot more fuelling available and you will have to relearn to drive the truck so its not a smoking heavy everywhere.

You planning on adjusting the afc?

What injectors you going to run? I have had really good luck with seven hole injectors sac. VP pop pressure 300bar and 260-280 bar for Pee pumper. The lower pop pressure will haze more at idle.

I am still in the process of rebuilding this engine so I have not given much thought to injector size, but I do know I want something that is very streetable and great for towing. I do plan on running the AFC and trying to get it tuned to cut down on some smoke....

Not sure why your rebuilding the pump. If its running good, why rebuild it?

Here is some late night reading for you.

If you want to farm out the pump build, contact Seth at Diesel Performance Engineering- 877-FOR-FUEL

Seth has done a few for me over the years and they work awesome.

Which pistons you going to run? If your buying new pistons I would look into the RV275 or the QSB480 piston. Both have 30% more heat treatment than the stock piece.
