I'm waiting to do the turbo at the same time as the injectors on my truck... Don't feel like having a laggy truck, or one I can hardly tow with while I save up for the other.
a 16cm housing might get you by for now on your existing turbo?

You can't expect to run POD's with a 21 cm housing. I say you should put the 16 cm housing on the stock turbo, get the POD's and see how the EGT looks. If it's too hot, then get the PDR35.

Jimmy, with my current set-up, I towed my friends 99 F-250 extended cab 4X4 powerjoke, with a lincoln 200 pipeline welder and other assorted welding tools in the bed of his truck. It was great buy the way, just wish I had pictures . Anyways, I didn't have any trouble with exaust temps, even with the 12 cm housing, the only trouble was rising tranny temps, that caused me to have to back out of it every now and then. Don't know what the truck weighed, not to mention the 30 ft. goose neck it was on, but it was all there. Darl

i too think that the huge 21cm housing will not clear up any smoke made by the POD's unless its floored all the time.
i really dont want to waste time getting the 16cm housing. id rather just order the new turbo and housing together.
so looks like turbo......
convince me folks, he he, jiMMy

If you get the turbo (or anything else for that matter) first, I think you'll find that a new tranny is going to be a close second. Of course when you need that new tranny you won't have any money 'cause you spent it already.
I say spend the money on a new tranny that will stand up to the future abuse you're planning on sending it's way. That is, unless you like being out of commission with a broken down truck while you scrape together the cash to fix it.

guess what I was saying was if it was me, I would go with the POD's, but with the 21 cm housing, you may have trouble with smoke. My opinion would be go with the PODs and a 16 cm housing. You'll be very surprised what a difference the smaller housing will make on spool up with your current turbo, especially with the larger injectors. Mechanos may have a point though, you might look into upgrading the tranny first. I haven't worried about it yet, because I have the two trucks to drive, figured I tourture the tranny and see how long it will last.

i have something else to drive as well so th trany is fine for now, but will upgrade this winter probably before next years big towing season.
as for getting the whole PDR package i wanted to just swap the whole ordeal and not working about screwing up the current tubo by swaping housings(as i am prone to mess ups, lol)
we will see. id love to get just the POD's and a 16cm and go from there. just wish there was someone local whos dont the installs before..
