Only 21psi with comp and boost elbow?

I have the boost elbow on now, but it really only gets to 21psi, seems to get there quicker, is that all the elbow does? I tightened the screw in (which I thought would help maybe raise the boost if there's a lot less flow to the wastegate. Is this about the normal? How do people get their hx35 to higher psi?

Check for boost leaks. You should have more than 21lbs with a comp box and a boost elbow.

wow, there has to be a leak, I was a bit disappointed with the results. Is there any easy method to test for leaks, It's a manual so I can't see an easy way to hold pressure if a visual inspection fails. Compressor?

PVC pipe end with a schraeder valve tapped into it. Regulate pressure to less than 20lbs and pump it up. Then slap on some soapy water and watch for bubbles.

Thanks, really hoping it's just a clamp or hose, not the IC

Might want to recheck the wire tap as well.

when i ran the comp the little snap lock wire tap thing didnt quite pierce the wire totally. check it out and make sure you dont have any pinhole leaks in the stock boots on your boost tubes

How would the wire tap affect the boost? I think that works, it smokes like crazy, that means the wire tap is working right? If not it seemed like a cheesy connector and I will replace it.

I have a Comp without the wire tapped and it will run about 25 psi so I don't think a bad tap is his problem. I'd say an intercooler boot leak is the likely problem, I had one a couple years ago and it took several tries to find it.

If you are getting nutty amounts of smoke and high EGT's, you probably have a boost leak. Whats your EGTs at?

When I ran the 1/4 they peaked like 1400 or so, I couldn't really focus on that, but I let off there. I checked visually today, couldn't see any obvious tears or slipped clamps, so I guess i'll try to pressurize the system and check?

i tightened up my boost elbow, and put some thread lock on the elbow itself and gained 5-6 psi today. but they were kinda loose. so i guess im saying double check everything.
