Only 20K out of a PDR HX35?

I replaced my stock turbo with a Piers Diesel HX35 last year. A few weeks ago I noticed a high-pitched bearing noise, and feared the worst. Upon inspection, I found play in the shaft and several of the vanes were chipped from contact with the housing.

My wife talked to Mark today (I was on the road) and was told the center bearing was bad. Mark theorized I was running "too much heat and too much power". The turbo is waste gated at 28# and EGT's have been kept in check. I hit 1400 once for less than 3 seconds while accelerating uphill. I have a 3K GSK, #10 plate slid slightly forward from stock, a BHAF and 4" exhaust. The engine is otherwise stock. Mark also stated altitude may factor into the equation since I live at 5500 feet and travel to the mountains frequently. My original turbo lasted 250,000 and over 50k with the current set-up. Shouldn't an after market last longer than this???

well its real hard to warranty hot rod parts when you cant really know for sure how far it was pushed. I have always got great service from mark, but when I brake something I just try to deal with it a try something different .Not saying that the part was not defective just its the nature of the beast, and some people will go beyond what it take and others dont. I hope you get it taken care of . all I can say is PDR has always done me right .not the cheapest, but fair . my .02

28psi is hardly pushing that turbo at all. Keep talking to them, maybe they can offer something else at a discount?
