I can hardly get it to hit 600* in town. I can if I drive hard, but driving normal (fairly easy, I guess) it usually doesn't get much over 550* if I take it easy I can keep it under 450*

Not sure what a short tipped probe is. The pic is of my old probe, I didn't compare them, but am 99% sure they are the same...

Sorry it's a little fuzzy, I guess I held the probe to close to the camera, but I'm thinking it will show you enough...

From what I understood is they have a new probe i guess that is not as long as the old one so you don't have to worry about it bottoming out on the bottom of the exhaust manifold. Have you ever thought about redoing your grounds for the amp box or possibly redoing were you spliced in for power? I spliced into my light on my storage bin in front of the shifter but yours is a 97.

It has been powered form a few places. Currently it is tapped into an accessory wire off the battery and grounded to bare metal on the fender. (Suggestion of one of the phone support guys) I may move it. Again, just to see if it helps.

allright, mine is definatly getting worse, on the way home tonight it would fall all the way to the peg when coasting up to a stop. It seems to move like it should, it's just about 300* cool. Any Ideas?

I haven't figured anything out with mine... It hasn't gotten worse though, seems to be staying the same.

You want the probe about a 1/4" from bottoming out. The pic shows it's not deep rnough.

the bi-metal is right at the tip, you don't actually need a lot of the probe in the exhaust stream for it to function properly. i think that is why they shortened the probe like they did.

That is my old one, not set... And TST says not to put it that deep, Isspro says depth is not real important, not enough to cause my readings...

Bump.

FWIW- The tip is about 1/2" from bottoming out. Depending on what I read, it is just right, to shallow, to deep, or it doesn't really matter. I am trying to figure out what is up with it...
