OK, who's got the highest reving CTD?

OK, who's got the highest reving CTD?
Watching mpeg's of some pullers, there are some screamers out there. Mitchell's, Haisely's, Shied's all sound like they are turning gasser levels of RPM's. Does anyone know what RPM they are actually turning?
How about the 24v guys? I saw quite a few that sounded a lot higher than 3,000 that’s for sure. The Redline box fuels to 4,000 but this sounded higher than that....
Now I know all about valve springs, and cylinder head porting, cam an exhaust manifold and/or hand built headers/manifold and a large single or twins.
BUT, what about the crank, rods pistons etc. The pistons in these things are heavy, and heavy pistons make life miserable for a rod that’s run at high RPM. Heck, the rods themselves are very heavy. That’s a lot of reciprocating weight to be turning big RPM with. Are these guys doing anything with the bottom end ??
What’s everybody know about this?

I have been reving past 5000 for years. We now have governor systems that will allow over 6000 easy. Mine is a 12 valve. The neweset engine I am building now will rev that high with ease.
I have several customers that rev over 4000 with their 24 valves using a redline box.
CR enignes are limited to about 3500 and make much lower power up there.

I can get 3200!!
Seriously though. I think the 24 vavles you heard revving high were probably P-Pumped. I dont know exactly how high they can get with a vp44 or even a hot rod vp44, but i think the limit is a little over 4k maybe.

that is insane ..u guys are insane..i have no idea what it takes to do that..that would send chills up my spine being in that truck revving to 6000rpms...i can get to 2800rpms and i start to look around to see if things are ok

I'm not even sure if my tach goes that high. I know it quits spooling up @ 34-3500, never really paid any attention.

6000 RPM
Holly shot batman 6000 RPM WOW!!!
When you guys pull what gear do you use??? (truck pull I mean) I was planning on 1st. gear high range. My truck is an auto with 3.55 gears and defuels around 3000 rpm. Half the RPM of Don M.'s truck lol

Sharpman.... I would not recomend pulling the sled in 1st gear high range. Use low range and let the transmission shift up from 1st to second during the pull.
I dont have an auto, but I suspect with 3.55 gears 1st gear high range is too high and you will spend most of the pull just heating transmission fluid in your converter.
On the other hand, it will certainly be easier on the driveshaft and rear end if you use high range, but I dont think you are making enough torque to worry about that yet....
Maybe some of the automatic sled pullers will chime in..
Remember, that sled is 40,000 pounds and the front SLIDES on the ground not rolls......
