OK, Lift Pump is DEAD!!! What are my options?
I've done a search on brands that everyone has tried. What are some of your experiences with these aftermarket pumps. Which one is "the best". My truck has 94,000 on it and I just installed a low fuel pressure light prior to my lift pump takin a dump. Whatever pump I put in, I would like long term reliability(if I could get another 90,000 out of it that would be awesome) What are some of your suggestions.

i love my walbro 392 lift pump i did the big line kit with it and it only cost $378 but i'm not sure what your looking at spending. the big line kit and the walbro helped my truck run smoother on the topend.

I have the FASS 95 gph setup and I love it. It buries my 15 psi gauge at idle and I can't pull it below 11 psi at wot. I am also using a modified version of the scotty smart fuel. Lots of guys run the holley blues with good luck. The walbro setup seems to be popular. There is also a belt driven mechanical setup that looks pretty promising I cant remember the name of hand, but I am sure someone will chime in and say what it is. I have 20,000 miles on my FASS and no troubles yet.

I can get the cummins lift pump from a local diesel shop for $180. They strongly urged me to STAY AWAY from the intank pump that dodge was wanting to sell me for the fact that if I did any fuel system mods later on, the intank pump would not push enough fuel. Does this sound right and is this a good price for the cummins lift pump?

Thats a lot for the Cummins pump, and its as bad as the original ones. The only pump I've had besides the stocker is a 150 FASS. 35k km on it, and is still going strong. And I like the extra filtration. Easier changes than the stock ones as well.

If you want an oem pump you can get it from napa with a one year warrenty as opposed to the six month warrenty cummins offers. I tried that along with a big line kit from vulcanperformance.com and saw 15+ at idle and cruise and 12 wot.
Now I'm running a cummins mechanical pump ran off an aftermarket cam and it should be good a long time =P The newer version of the rasp system mentioned above is called the mitusa pump which is the only other mechanical pump availble for our trucks.

How does the walbro-392 pump mount up? Is it as simple as mounting the cummins/stock pump? Looks like a good pump but I already have a cummins pump in hand and ready to install. Is it worth returning this pump and getting a walbro. I guess that is the only other pump I am considering. Thanks Guys!

FASS HPFP here. It's been on there two years come June and no problems. Idle at 19, cruise at 18 and has never been below 16. The HPFP is the one that uses the factory filter, water seperator and heater and is a real easy install.

Well I did it...against popular demand, I intalled a new carter/cummins lift pump. Install wasn't too bad, kinda tight conditions, but still not too bad. I took the truck for a spin afterwards, WOW, it feels like my truck has alot more snap to it! The lift pump takin a dump over time effected my trucks throttle respone but I didn't really notice it because it didn't happen overnight. Even though the pump cost me a little more, I am really happy with the whole deal.Gotta support your local businesses!(got my pump from a local diesel shop) We'll see how long this pump lasts. My low fuel presseure light is working like a charm and I'm glad that I put it on instead of a guage. I may get a guage to hook up to the test valve just to check the actual pressure now and then but I like the idea of the light catching my attention. Now I'll cross my fingers and hope the VP44 won't go out in another 6000 miles or so. My check engine light never came on so I'll drive the chit outta it and hope for the best! Thanks for everyones advice!
