oil filters
what are you guys with bombed trucks running for oil filters?
I am pretty religious about changing my oil every 3-4k miles but it still seems its pretty dirty? im just using the oil filters i get at kragens. should i be using something diff?
i was looking at bypass oil filters but heard they can restrict oil presure?

No, the stratapore is the newer filter with slightly better filtration.
Only Fleetguard Stratapore for me. Geno's sends them right to my door for about the same price as picking them up.

ya i run the fram filters on it, i dunno ya its always black. Im just trying to protect my baby. how many miles are you guys going between changes?

Geno's is fine but Direct Injection Performance is cheaper on Stratapores.

A good oil filter is more important than good oil. Fram is generally agreed to be the worst, Fleetguard Stratapore the best. Wix and Napa Gold are OK, but everything else is suspect.
Black oil is not dirty but normal, it's just soot, but must be changed on schedule. Using Fram, your oil probably is dirty. Not good. If I saw that in a vehicle for sale I'd run the other way.

It doesnt matter if the truck is bombed or not - oil filteration is VERY important even on stock trucks.
The most important thing to consider is that certain filters, namely Fram, Wix, and even Baldwin have been known to break down and clog piston cooling ports and oil passages. Resulting in engine teardown....not a good thing. For me its Fleetguard Stratopore or nothing. I have NEVER heard of any oil/lube problems caused by a Stratopore. Im not saying there arent other good filters but why risk it? Ultimately, the choice is up to you. "Choose wisely grasshopper".
