oil bypass
I am soon going to install an oil bypass filtration system on my truck. I want to return the oil through the valve cover. Can any one tell me what size hole to drill and what tap to use for a 1/8 npt elbow fitting? Thanks

Thanks ranger, i'm going ot use the amsoil BMK-11 and in the kit it has 1/8 npt fittings. I was just going to drill and tap my valve cover and thread this 1/8 to 7/16 adapter into the cover and attatch the return hose to it. I'll use a 90* adapter i think, should make it fit better.

Hey guys,
If I were to put a petcock for sampling where would the best place be to put it? Before or after the bypass? I planned on just sticking on the outlet of the bypass with a TEE fitting and then running the other side to the return through my valve cover. Just wondering which side would get a more accurate reading of engine oil. Or perhaps is the oil drain plug the best?

Here mine is!
You can get the cap that returns the oil to the valve cover. It is way better than drilling the cover. It also makes it easier when you want to take the valve cover off.
I should add that with the new oil cap, there is no need for a petcock. I realized this AFTER I got it all together. . You can just take the sample from the cap.
