O-Ring Time

Re:O-Ring Time
You may want to consider Haisley's firerings done at their shop in Indiana. I spoke with someone there this morning and was very impressed with their knowledge. It sounds like they've been around for awhile and know what works. My truck's scheduled for Feb 2nd, 2004.
On edit, I just noticed that you prefer not to send your head all over the place. My bad. :
brandon.

How about a brand new head, ported, ringed and ready to go.
A few other tricks thrown in for good measure.
Shipping would be one way. You will have a spare head that way or you could sell it.

Jamie:
I would like to recommend "Scheid Diesel" to you also.
They can do anything you want to the head concerning
O-rings etc. They also keep head studs in stock in both
the 12mm size and 14mm, although the 14mm studs
require you to machine the block. They have three
shops, one in Terre Haute, Indiana, one in Lafayette,
Indiana and another in Effingham, Illinois.
Here are the numbers for the shops if you are interested:
Terre Haute: 1-800-669-1593 (Contact: J.P.)
Lafayette: 1-800-669-3533 (Contact: Kent)
Effingham: 1-800-669-1934 (Contact: Mike Wood)

Re:O-Ring Time
Jamie,
I took my truck to Enterprise Engine Performance in ohio & had them cut O-rings in the block not the head. They feel this is a better way to control high boost numbers.Plus if you have to surface or mill your head for any reason your not cutting out the O-rings you just had machined in it.You can purchase the tool to O-ring the block yourself then you wouldnt have to send your head anywhere. The stock head gasket is used with the wire O-ring pressing into the firering on the stock headgasket.I can hit 75 psi & mine is still holding with no leaks at all .

Jamie,
Piers may be easier since you wont have the ahssle of getting it across the border. From what Ive heard, Im pretty sure they are capable of doing a good job.
Good luck.

[/quote] Then why don't you do what pro puller suggested & just buy the tool so you can DIY?
pro puller, do you happen to know the cost of the tool & source? And do you also happen to know whether it could also be used on other blocks, such as VW diesels? TIA.
