I spoke with the same guy. He said maybe 5-20 further North but in a high quality synthetic. He liked the Valvoline and Amsoil lubes. He said the recommended lubes by Mopar were too thin. He thought engineers design to last a certain period of time and as a mechanic his job was to try and improve on the longevity. He didn't claim to be a smart as an engineer, but said he didn't have a life expectancy factored in like an engineer might. He thought the heavier oil might make it shift slightly more slowly, but would last longer. He said at least use a good quality synthetic. This is a guy who is 70+ years in age and had a lot of experience he was drawing off.

I told him I had been using Redline and that it was synthetic. He still felt like Redline and Royal Purple were too thin. I guess maybe that explains why Redline shifts better.

Seems to me a 10w30 or 5w20 would be thinner than the 75w85 weight that the Castrol (OEM) stuff is.

So I found half a 3rd gear syncro from a nv4500.

Yes its brass or some sort and yes its lined with a kevlar/ carbonfiber material.....

So there's your 6 of 1 ......and half a dozen of the other.
