I would use the Castrol stuff for it, from Dodge or Chevy dealer...

You can't use off the shelf gear oil in a NV4500.

Reason I ask is mine is always wet, even after my recent rebuild so I was wondering what to replace/ refill with. It does have the stock Castrol Torque Syn or whatever it is called in there now.

I talked with a re-builder who said he recommends using 10w30.

The Castrol and Amsoil are the only oils I know of that are made for the NV4500. Every time I've drained the OEM oil out of a tranny, its been a nice honey coloured. I ran redline in my tranny after I did my dual disc, and other than the synchros getting eaten, the oil is black black black!

Penzoil makes a GL-4 rated synthetic gear oil. I have it in my 4500

Now to cross reference that GM part#12345371. And see if it comes up fluid for NV4500.

Castrol Syntorq LT® is available in quart bottles from Dodge dealers (p/n 4874459) and GM dealers (p/n 12346190).
That penzoil stuff is a substitute for GM P/N 12345371. So while that stuff may work, its not designed for the NV4500 like the Castrol and Amsoil oils.

How so?

If you read the info page in the link it says it is designed for brass and other soft metal syncronizers.

Can't see that posing a problem.
