NV4500 to a 4BT
Hello,
I know they never put 4BT's in Rams, but I figured since the 4BT is really just 2/3 of the 6BT, similar rules should apply. I am doing a 4BT repower and want to mate the motor to a reman. NV4500 with a manual clutch.
Does anyone know if an NV4500 made for a Ram will mount up to a 4BT? I know the bellhousings are the same between the 6BT and 4BT motors. Does anyone know where I can get a complete clutch for it from? I intend on using the sam clutch used in Rams. I was thinking I could just get one from a junk yard, but I'd like one in good shape...
Thanks in advance,
Mark

The 4BT and 6BT do not use the same bellhousings, it depends on what they where used in, most of the 4BTs where used in bread van and depending on the chassis it came out of it could have a SBC adapter in the GM chassis or a SAE adapter in the ford chassis. You need to swap out the adapter currently on your 4BT to the (1994 and up)Dodge 6BT one, then you can use the Dodge flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, starter and NV4500 tranny. I'am doing the same swap with my 4BT thats going into my scout, My 4BT is currently set up for a Small Block GM TH400 since it came out of a GM chassis.
