Now the delima begins.....
I hate to , but I've searched and not seeing the awnser I am looking for. Ran into a guy in town today with a 2001 cummins, he is running 315 BFG TAKO'S and says there is a slight rub in a full turn. I am looking at 285's. I hear yes they rub and no they don't? what Should I go with? They would be the BFG TA KO'S.

AKDLSDOG.
I just put on Mickey Thompson 305 on a Mickey Thompson 8.5x16( 4.5 back space)wheel and there great. On the inside of the wheel well there is a little plastic hump on the inner fender skirt (back side) and they just hit that ever so slightly under pretty hard driving over the rough stuff. On my truck 315's would be to much with out a lift.
Good Luck,
Topper

First question is are you going to put on a leveling kit or a lift? Stock I wouldn't go past a 285, with a leveling kit I wouldn't go past a 305 and 4" lift then a 315. I am running 315's with only a 2" leveling kit and most of the time they don't rub. As long as you go with at least 5" backspacing and an 8" wide rim you will be fine for most driving and offroading but keep in mind I can get them to rub if I really want to. I think the 305's look better with the 2" lifts, the 315's look unproportional to me, the truck really needs another inch or two to really look right with 315's. Plus keep in mind that 315's in a 10ply are pretty hard to find and expensive when you do find them.

I rubbed with a 305 when I had factory rims and a 2" leveling kit. But it was only at full lock. The 315's rubbed a little worse when I had the leveling kit. When I put the 315's on a 10" wide wheel with 4.5" of back spacing I could only turn the wheel halfway before I started tearing my fender off. Every truck is different. Some rub and some don't. I prefer the 305 because I like the wide tire look.

today I put a replacement set of bfg TAKO's 285-75-16 $860.00 worth. they don't rub. but 305's will rub slightly. I just found out. I wanted the 305's too. On the bright side I did get about 60,000 on the 285's .

AKDSLDOG,
I have the BFG M/T's in a 285. They look great when new, but once they are worn they look like the the stockers to me. I've been averaging just under 50K with them. I've been getting them for $770.00 mounted and balanced. I'm thinking of trying the new Toyo M/T on the next round, but I'm riding the fence about changing something that's been working so well.

just got back from errands. picked up hunting tags and license. anyway the TAKO's handle great under the beast. thats why this is my second set. the only other tires that handle as well as the bfg's so I've head are the pro comp A/T's. Love the way they look too. If you get them you wont regret it.
