I recently heard my fass pump making a wierd noise its an eratic hiss like noise has anyone else had an issue with their pump making any wierd noises. Its still under factory warrenty so thats not an issue but I don't want the pump to quit on me going down the hwy I haven't noticed a drop in fuel pressure but that might not mean anything.

 

Im not to sure about a hissing noise but my Uncle has a FASS on his 03 and completley hates it. Not a week after he got it it would make a very loud whineing noise.
Watch your guages and hopefully it wont die

 

As with any noise that pops up with the FASS, make sure your suction line is not kinked or sucking air at the tank connection. Even with the volume the FASS moves, it can pull debris into the in-tank strainer in the sending unit and cause restriction.

What i would suggest is to pull fuel from a bucket and see if the pump sounds any different.

Now its normal for the FASS to make a “stutter” or “surge” type noise. This is air being built up in the water separator and then being drawn into the pump in chunks, if you will. This is normal operation and you could hear this more the lower your fuel tank is.

Another suggestion is to look up a local FASS dealer in your area and have them listen to the pump. You can locate one off our dealer locator on our web site.
