no more power with injectors

a buddy of mine's brother who has a bombed 24valve stepped up to bigger injectors. He didn't notice by feel any increase in power, but more smoke. I am not sure what he went to, marine 300 or 370s? But no noticeable power increase. Could the rails be limiting them? he has a box, K&N, strait exhaust, and the wastegate has been blocked. Any Ideas?

Re:no more power with injectors

Well, this is the 24V forum, and 300 and 370 injetors are for the 12V. That might explain the power loss (wrong injectors) ;D

Anyway, I agree that he probably needs more air. Smoke indicates an air shortage. How much boost is he running?? Does it smoke at full boost?

Hohn

Re:no more power with injectors

It is definetly TURBO time for your friend a Piers HX35 or HX40 would help get rid of the smoke, smoke makes high exhaust temps, grey smoke is power and lowers exhaust temps.
Bruce

Re:no more power with injectors

Injectors are a hard item to actually feel the power. The application is smooth and across the rpm range so it is much less noticable than say a fueling box. Your statement of increased smoke indicates that he is in fact pushing more fuel. A larger turbo may not be necessary if the smoke is produced when he is not under boost. Excessive EGT's are one of the best indications on needing to step up to a larger turbo not necessarily smoke.

Re:no more power with injectors

thanks for all the repies fellas' . I am not sure whick injectors that he got as I haven't spoken with him yet. His brother is a bud of mine with same type of truck and modifications except for the injectors. He was waiting to see what happened first. Anyway what I mean by rails is the pipes that feed the cylinders (is delivery valves the right term?). I will try to find out more soon.
