I have a set of the Nitto's, and I do not like them. They are almost completely worn out at less than 30k, and I have kept them rotated pretty good. I have gotten stuck up with them numerous times, in mud and sand. The only plus to them is the ride quality on the road and the quietness, but I will never get them again.

any tire will get you stuck sooner or later....the question is would the BFG All Terrain have done better or not.
If worried about getting stuck all the time....best to get an aggressive Mud Terrain...as the ATs are all about compromises. Quiet and good mileage and long lasting are usually equated to good in sand as they have tighter tread pattern......softer compount, more aggressive pattern, etc usually better in sloppy conditions or snow.
I rode on mud terrains for 5 years in Wash DC....towards end of their life they were impossible to balance because of wear...were noisy and poor wet weather traction but in woods were awesom. BFG ATs I had were awesome on road....good in sandy roads of florida panhandle...but a short sprinkle of rain on inclined dirt road and all i would do is spin or slide into ditch...not soupy mud bog holes...a regular road that is graded and scraped regularly...and I was stuck in my Jeep 4x4 with clogged tires.
If my Nitto last 30k I will be happy as I dont expect any mud terrain or aggressive all terrain to last longer than that.....about 2 years of mixed driving is fine by me.

I've had my BFG AT's for about 25K. They still have way more than 50% tread on them. I use 4x4 on the track so hooking up ain't a problem. I was surprised with their performance off road. I thought they were awesome. I've never gotten stuck with them and I've been through some pretty thick stuff. They are awesome on the road as well. They aren't noisy (or maybe I can't hear it over the turbo! ). I'm on the raod too much for mud terrains but like to off road. My next set of tires will definantly be BFG AT's. Hey BigBlue, where do you do your wheelin' at around here? Let me know next time you go. Sorry for the lengthy post.

I have had BFG's in the past and now I own Nitto terra grappler A/T's. I will NEVER own BFG's again! These tires are awsome. They have the Bruit look with a classy touch and the ride is super quiet, smooth, and above all very stable. My tires came from Discount tire and have a 50,000 mile warranty for tread life. If you ever try a set you will be like EVERYONE I know and never consider another tire again. Thumbs up to Nitto!!!

I ran Nitto terra grappler AT's. They were great on the street but completely sucked. Got stuck in a cornfield with them on black dirt.. Didn't even get to the axle tubes..
Tires just gummed up and were useless.

Well I just got a smokin Deal on a set of 285/75/16 at discount tire, a guy put them on his tahoe and they rubbed, brought them back with less than 100 miles, I got them put on today for $120 per tire. with all the warranties mounting balancing etc came to $600 even. Alot better than the $750 they told me for new ones.
I like them so far, about 40 miles on them,

Ive ran the nitto terra grapler for about 25,000 miles and i like em, still got plenty of tread left.
Any all terrain tire is going to be fairly easy to get hung up with, if you want a mud tire I would try there terra graphite, i also know that the nitto's are 10ply while the BFG are 6ply.

i do not have experiance with Nittos, but i do have with a lot of other bands, And if you want your tires to last, BFG 's are great. I put 40,000 on mine where other tires did not last past 12k miles. And pull and abuse them. a great on road tire in any condition with the right air pressure, only drawback you need good mud flaps. They will freckle your paint.
