Not sure about the Nittos, I had the Toyos same thing IMO. I liked the Toyos better than the BFG's I had. The Toyos/Nittos, better tread life, wet traction, most of all a lot less stone chips.

Thanks for the information. Does anyone else know anything about the Nitto Terra Grappler AT tire?

the terra grapler don't do as good off road but they hook excellent on pavement they handle excellent also. They would be a great tire to dragrace with because they are hard to spin.

I wonder how many miles you can expect to get out of them.

Usually the softer the tire the less life..I had Yokohama Supper Digger 5's on before my BFG AT KO's and they only lasted 25,000 miles. Great wet traction and they would hook up hard, but very soft.

I can spin the BFG's pretty easy on wet/cold pavement, but they really grab in the snow and mud. I have gone on roads where I used to need 4WD and have cruised along in 2WD..

I've gotten about 40k miles out of my nittos. They've been rotated maybe 6 times and I'm horrible about checking air pressure. They work alright in the mud but SUCK in the sand. All they do for me is bury. The ride great on the highway, are quiet, and handle well.

I got a set of 5 Nitto Terra Grapplers on their way to me for $875 with free shipping. The tire is more aggressive in tread pattern than BFG....so that makes them slightly better in mud but worse in sand as you dig down easier rather than floating....but BFG are terrible at self cleaning in anyting but sand or light mud.

The Nitto are rated as 40-50,000 mile tires and from what have seen of my friends are every bit as good a tire, maybe better if you actually hit the mud more than the sand or anything else. The are not a mud terrain but are rated higher for snow, mud, wet traction and handling....much higher than BFG.

Here is exhibit A:

BTW: I had Nitto Terra Grapplers and was good about rotation/air pressure checking, but was less than impressed with how long the tread stayed good. Never off roaded with them, but they had a hard time hooking up on the street when it was wet after about 15000 miles

Mine hooked up great up until the last 6-10k miles. Apparently, 400hp with bald tires and wet roads is a bad combo. Even at 70mph.

Hey Rob, wait till you see exhibit B in person.

My Terra Grapplers were quiet, one of the things I liked best about them. I pulled my 305/70s, on 16x10" rims, off at 31K. They aren't bald, but they don't have much tread left. I don't have a gauge to measure them to give you exact though.
I never spun them, and only ran on the road with them. I wasn't very impressed with the tire life.
I have never had BFGs, so I can't compare them.

So is that showing BFG sucks in mud or Nitto sucks in mud? Look like every BFG I have seen in deep mud or red clay!

That shows what bald nittos do in mud. If a certain friend of mine would stop being lazy and go look at a set of BFG's for me, I'll have BFG's.
