Sweet link man, that explains alot. I know the function of a Turbo, now I know the parts. Ill head to the junkyard as soon as Uncle Sam is done with my skinny ****. Now, if you feel up to answering a few more dumb **** questions, what seperates one turbo from another? I know its size, but size of what? And what are the standard sizes for the different applications?
Im looking to get most of my power in the lower RPM range. Most of what I do is off the track...off the road...and normally off the trail.

If your looking for more grunt down low then you should rebuild what you got or some type of hybrid or twins, a bigger turbo will only make you laggy down low without more fuel, anything smaller will not cool EGT's good.

Cool

I have a brand new HT3B. You interested?

I hate Ebay too, for multiple reasons.

I can send you some pics if you are interested.

An HX-40 will support 400hp. Set the wastegate to 40psi and you will be fine. It will spool slower than stock but not horribly.

All the new Macks have rebadged volvo engines in them now. Just painted a purty red with a mack valve cover on them. Just a side note those hx 52s on the volvo's have 16 cm exhaust housings on them i believe.

After that last run of bad cams, they should have used Volvo engines. Where are you in Pa.....I'm about 50mi east of Pittsburgh

Talking

what everyone seems to have missed here is his path to upgrading in stages. Turbo shouldn't be near the top quite yet.
Gauges gotta have gauges, FP,Boost & EGT
Fuel system upgrades
Tranny if Auto VB and TC clutch if stick.
Comp or Smarty or something else.
then
Injectors and Turbo.

Anyways that's JMHO and .02c
Don't want ya to have too much air and not enough fuel. But if you already have most of this stuff i didn't know because it's in your sig.

My goal is 350 -400HP, but Im doind this in stages. Stage one is intake, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, turbo and exhaust. Stage 2 is Aux pump, Injectors and chip. Stage 3 is tranny upgrades, suspension, cam shaft, fancy stuff.

I want to get all of stage one done in one bang, which means saving cash on the turbo. So the upgraded HX40 would be good for all this?

Thanks a ton grease monkies, think Im becoming a convert.

What tranny you got? If you're only looking for 350-400hp.. I'd look at a hybrid if you got an auto. HX-40 if you got a stick.

I am about 20 miles west of Chambersburg. It wasn't the cams that were the problem the oil holes in the block didn't intersect. The volvo engines aren't bad but I think the Mack engine is better. Sorry for hijacking the thread guys.
