my question is will stok turbo of a06 fit my 96 and would it be better if so.

i know an 06 turbo will go on a 99 cause a buddy of mine did it to his. he didnt really gain much off it.

499.2 HP was my last trip to the dyno. The stock turbo will not make much past 440 HP so it is an upgrade as far as HP potential.

Read bigblues24 writeup to get it all installed. See if you can get the down pipe with it also.

you can find hx40's for close to that and you can use the larger downpipe for more egt reduction.

I thought about the 3rd gen for a while, but the hx40's have been around a long time and some big hp has been made using them. I decided to pick up an hx40 instead

From what I read, the HX40 is a proven and reliable mod but it can be laggy, which in CO means, smoky. If I ever get into messing with the turbo I will probably go with the more efficient, recent design - the HE-351CW, 04.5+ turbo. They can be had for $300-400, BigBlue found one on Ebay the other day that was brand new for $375.
