New toy. (Viair questions)

Getting a Viair 450C compressor soon. Ordered it today (pm me for info about where to get it at a decent price). Anybody running one of these (or another brand)? Where did you mount it? It is not totally "element" proof, so I think a box (like a battery box) would be in order. Just trying to see what else others have done.

I have an extremaire. I have not mounted it yet but have a plan. Just not had time to implement it yet. I am going to mount it to the outside of the passenger side frame rail underneath the bed as far forward as I can get it. There are two bed mounts there with the brackets (approx 11" between the brackets) coming down onto the frame rail. It will fit between them. There is plenty of room up there for it and it will be fairly well protected. I also will put some aluminum panels around it as well. I was going to use 3/16 stock in the shape of angle iron(11"long by 6" wide welded together with some underlying support to help protect the weld from cracking). Mounting one side to the frame rail with the other side creating a shelf (the shelf sitting almost at the top of the frame rail) to sit the compressor on. going to mount the tank in the same space on the other side of the truck.

There are a lot of pics here about how this guy mounted his tank on the rail. He put a little compressor under the back seat. The "redneck power distribution center" is too

I have seen one mounted verticle in front of the passenger side battery fit's in there real nice and it's nice and dry,you only need a short power and ground cable as well. Are you going to run a air tank?
