New Toolbox, Cut Around Stacks (Pics) (MORE Pics)
I picked up a new toolbox this weekend and had some fabricating done to it, to fit around the my stacks. I'm think'n about painting it. Should I leave it chrome, paint it black or maroon? Whatcha think?

That's exactly what I've been looking for. How far up above the bed rails does it stick out? What all had to be done to make it fit around the stacks? Where'd you get it? Sorry for the barage of questions but I've been dying to get a toolbox for a while.

Looks good Buckshot!!!
Think twice about painting it. Going to be hard to get anything to stick to the aluminum (unless you use exotic expensive primer)

I agree with Rob, I'd leave it chrome. Painting those things usually turns out to be a nightmare with the paint flaking off.
Plus the chrome box looks pretty good with the chrome stacks

-It sits about 3/4 to 1'in above rails, not much
-It's diificult to expalin, but I had 5'in cut out in each corner, then went continued straight down, flush with the back of the lid, then, forget it! (I'll take pictures tonight and post )
-The fabing was pretty easy, the difficult part was the corners, I marked the lines/pattern and the fab shop cut and welded it.
-I got it from my local John Deere dealer. I wasn't looking for a box but it was sitting right were you walk in and it looked perfect. It had a couple of dents in it, but they were in the section that was going to be cut (in my mind) anyways. So I barted with them and paid $220.00 for it. http://www.deere.com/en_US/parts/hom...chest6000.html
I hope that answers your questions Tyler.

I had the local sheet metal shop bend this to fit and them made up a template to cut the holes perfectly around the stacks.

I like the idea of the corners cut away for the stacks. I have thought about this before. If I were to get stacks that is want I would want. If you push the tool box back for the stacks you lose the room in the bed. Some one should start marketing them, I bet you could make some good money!
