New Tires!!!

Having the leveling kit put on tomorrow and need new tires as well. I am currently running 265's and want to move up to 315's. What do you guys think?? OverKill?? Maybe I should scale back to 305's instead, I dont want massive power and milage loss. I am looking at the Yokohama Geolander M/T, has anyone tried these?? I want to go as narrow as possible but it seems that with a traction type tire your not going to get any narrower than 10.5"?? Also I have read about death wobble, what exactly is this and does the leveling kit bring it on?? Any thoughts would be great because I am driving out abit taller and with new tires tomorrow!!!

I'd go with the 305's.
315's will rub the control arms on semi tight to tight turns, and will suck your mileage down 2-3mpg, and you'll see some power loss.

305s are probably fine. You will notice a slight loss of power with them. Just get the 305s in a load range 'E' and they should be OK. A friend of mine had the Yokahamas in 285s and got rid of them as soon as he could. He said they were just too soft in the sidewalls and the truck didn't feel as good or firm. He hated them actually. Went to another version of 285s until they wore out. BTW, he had a leveling kit, DT track bar and 1/2" longer control arms too.

He recently put Nitto 305s on I believe and likes them but he says the extra width does pick up the ridges and troughs in the highways and tries to follow them more than the narrower tires (285s) he had on before.

Just food for thought.

i've ran 315's on 16x8's and they didn't rub at all. i personally like either 305's or 285's both look good in my opinion with the leveling kit. the 315's dropped my rpm's too far down for my likeing with the 3:55 gears. i would run 315's if i had 4:10 gears. i wish i could afford some 33x12.50 ssr's. that would be my next tire for sure. i have pics in my gallery of the 315's with a 2" leveling kit and 2" aal in rear.

Well I wound up going with 255's and the leveling kit. Now I just have to get it into a dealer to have the shift points and speedo recalibrated. Wish I could find someone around here to do it for less than $75.00. Personally I think that is a ripoff!!!

I had some Yokahama Geolander AT's for 2 days ,d range, and they went back. I just checked and the MT's are the same D range, you can not get an E. You can check for yourself here http://www.yokohamatire.com/pdf/geoMTplus.pdf
I loved the tires for the tread and sound on the road but they cornered like marshmallows, too much sidewall flex

I put a set on and too them off after 2 weeks. (They have a 30 ride guarantee) They were the roughest riding tires I ahve ever had. Went back to 285 BFG's.

If ya look in my photo gallery I have basicly the same truck as you and I have 305's on her. The fuel mileage went to heck around town but is good at highway speeds. I run 5-10 thou a month and most of it is at 70 - 75mph and I get around 20mpg. Around town it's down around 15-16mpg. I have to say though I run the truck pretty hard and the tires ride, look and handle GREAT. I put a 3" bds suspension lift in the truck. The 305's rubbed before the lift. My wifes truck is the 05 and it's as tall as my truck. There's no lift in hers and she has 305's also .No rubbing at all on hers.
