IMHO, I think that if you are looking for sub's go with a Kicker Solobaric. I have 1 L7 12" behind my seat with the smallest possible ported box and a 800 watt amp and if I wanted to I could probably go to jail for being loud! (not really) but it's loud.

I'm not looking to put in a sub or box. I'm not into that. I'm just looking to upgrade my factory stereo with an in-dash DVD and upgrade the front/rear door speakers. I'm not sure I can afford an alpine unit but I'll try if they really are any better than the others? For speakers I'll look for a decent pair of component fronts and some 2-ways for the back. Since the factory uses 6x9's in front are 6.5's going to give good enough low end sound compared to the 6x9's?

 

I had some Pionner 3 way 6x9's in my 12v and they sounded great. That was before I had subs. I think you'd be happy with that if thats what you're looking for. Hope this helps.

With dynamat and enough power 6.5's will put out plenty of "mid bass" as they are designed. If you want "bass" go with some subs.
