new with question about gauges

hello, new to the forum. a reader for 2 weeks now. i just purchased an 01 dodge 2500 quad cab long bed 4x4. i was wondering about gauges. i found some made by glowshift. they have a 100 psi fuel pressure gauge. pretty reasonable price on all guages. help appreciated

Since your fuel pressure will never get over about 17 psi, you need a smaller guage, one that has smaller increments. I have DiPricol guages. Check at a local diesel shop.

the reason for glow shift is that it's about 1/3 of the cost of any other. i can live with 100psi guage though it may not be quite a accurate. i was just wondering if anyone else has them or heard of good or bad with them

You want to match a guage where the operating pressure / temp is near the middle of the range. 0-30 is all you need for FP. You can see changes more accuarately, and that is what you have a guages for.

Good call on installing them.

I searched and searched for the cheapest prices on gauges and found some weird brands...but, I saw most everyone here were either using Isspro or Dipricol and a few other brands that I have heard. I went with the Dipricol, I'm all about cheap, but I wanted something that was good to, easy to get.

Search the web for diesel aftermarket parts and check prices. A little work will find the best prices and if you want to buy from one place, most will price match if you can show them the price of what you found.

The fact that you nor anyone else on here has heard of them is not really a good sign. Not necessarily a bad thing either though. They may be fine gauges, but do you really want to gamble your engine with them? I would say spend the few extra bucks to get the proven brands...

On a 24v you need FP, if you will be BOMBing you need a pyro, and boost is almost a necessity. You could run w/o one, but I would reccomend having one.

I'd recommend PYRO as mandatory, boost is nice, and FP is also a niceto have-- if you have the option.

Do not try to save money on cheap gauges. You'll be cursing yourself when you have to uninstall the whole pillar to replace a failure with a better gauge anyway.

Not to mention that a $6K Cummins is worth spending a little to protect, I'd submit.

Dude....I just sold a set of Autometer gauges for $125 this morning. Black faces and are real nice. Boost and EGT. I bought them new for about $250 for the whole package. I do have another EGT guage if you're interested, but it only goes up to I think 1000F. It would work for temp in down pipe, but not for your mantifold temp.

I just bought my pyrometer, boost and electric fuel gauge plus the A pillar mount for a little over 400 bucks. I chose the ultra lites, with the fuel gauge 0-30psi and the boost 0-60 psi and the pyrometer up to 1600 degrees.

I bought a kit from Diesel Manor. for about $250. It included every thing I needed to install the gauges. the install took about 5 hours but I was trying to be slow and careful. I got the A pillar mount, Boost, Pyro, and Tranny temp. I allready had the fuel pressure gauge mounted on steering colum pod.
