Talking new HG & 4K gsk, love it but have a ?

I just installed a new HG and PRD 4K gsk. It runs great and pulls good, didn't even have to adjust the idle and it works fine with cruse. If I have no load on it (not in gear) it will rev to 4K and still have more and runs smooth but under load ( runing down the road) it will start to spit and pop at 3500-3700rpm under heavy peddle. I installed the 12 new 60# springs and set the valves so its not valve prob. Do need to advance the timming? Its set at stock for now. What are some of you guys running? I have heard 18.5* on a lot of trucks but I want to here form some guys with the 4K kit. I have a stock HG for now and bolts for now and tow often. Thanks

P.S. 4K sounds good with full 5" straight and I got all my oil leaks fixed while I had it down.

Sounds like you'll have some fun once you get your peddle figured out.

Its already fun. It pulls hard all the way to 3500rpm use to fall off at 2700-2800. I want to give the new HG a few 100miles befor I get to crazy. Also need a new harmonic dampener, mine looks pertty bad. Kinda scared to hit 4K with it to many times. Dose any one have a stock one thats in good shape?

I wouldn't go past 16.5* on a DD, you will love the timing advance.

How about what I did today. 300K miles + 4K gsk + a few runs at 40+psi on stock HX-35 ( changed the location of adjustable WG fitting and didnt re set it yet usualy only 36 max I know 40 is to much) and #10 plate = BOOM

Pulled head back off and all is fine just have to do some cleaning ( inercooler , head, valves, and so on) and put on spare turbo.

What you think?

I think that looks nasty. You were fortunate there wasn't any internal damadge.

Just put some JB weld on that shaft and compressor wheel, it'll be good as new!!!

Wow, lots of carnage!

Wow what a mess! glad nothing is really wrecked. Peirs told me when I bumped my timing that if I was going to pull regularly not to go over 18* but anything up to that point would be safe.
