New head from Don M
Well after 2 years of pressing my luck with a stock head gasket, I broke down and bought a new head from Cummins. I bought it from Texas and had Don pick it up and work some of his majic on it. It is almost to pretty to install and perfectly flat. I checked everyway I could with a straight edge and could not fit a feeler gauge in anywhere. I am curious how my old head will look after 2 years of twins abuse. I will dyno after the install and see what kind difference porting and a drop in compression will do. For what it is worth my stock gasket w/ arp studs held up to 77 lbs of boost and never complained or left me stranded. Tim

Boy that's shocking... Most guys around here tell tales of head gasket give up after 50-60 PSI of boost... But 77 PSI on stock gasket... You were doing something right!
I would like to hear how it goes...

Timinva, your going for the same goal I'm going for. Only difference being is that your a little ahead of me. Let us know how it turns out. I'm trying to piece together a parts list so when I sell a kidney and all of my arms and legs I can have a 600+hp truck on diesel only.

Tim,
The only thing I can tell you is with Don's head you will be looking for tons more fuel. Those things flow tons of air. Going down the strip I have NO smoke with mach 6's and temps are considerbly slower to rise.

Hey Guys, I'm gonna hijack the thread "a little"
Benn thinking about a Don M~ head for my 12v if the thing ever lets loose...should I go mild for a decent chuck o' change...or go ALL OUT for major cash??
Do these head really help all that much?? I'm guessing they just keep temps down that much more, right?
Thanks,
Chris

They ought to flow pretty good stock, no shrouding except for the cylinder walls, depends how blocked up the pockets and throats are.
The better it gets out, the better it gets in

John, compression should be down to about 15.5 to 1. I didnt really ask about flow numbers maybe Don will let us know. I will try to e mail you a couple of pictures when I figure how to work my digital camera. I am dying to install it but have trannys and twins lined up for the next 3 weekends. Tim
