I think DD4x4 picked up on my post. He has the same setup as is pictured, so probably not what you are talking about. My fault for screwing up this thread.

If you want to know about life of THAT setup, I haven't had mine on for a year yet, so the jury's still out.

Not a problem Chris, I think the pump is the same, just without the filtering set up. At less than $400 I think this is a great replacement for the stock LP.

4 year warranty, 600,000 - 800,000 miles expected. all for under $400! I know what I'm gonna ask Santa for!

Do you know "for sure" whether this is the same pump??

Either way, with those numbers it sounds pretty good.

I ordered one from Rip @ Source Automotive. Give him a call toll free at 1-866-211-1533 and get one cheaper then the prices listed above.
I got the same info as Geico....4yr warranty, and expected pump life of 600k to 800k miles. It should be here today or tomorrow, then all I have to do is fit in some time to install it. I'll post results & pics when I'm done

Same pump as full FASS but with filter delete. 95 gph for "most" trucks. 150 gph for major BOMBS. 150 is also suggested to run a 3/8" line as a pick-up as it can suck faster than your pick up can deliver. 95 is supposed to be quite a bit quieter too.

About the cost of two DC liftpumps...sounds like a screamin deal. That's the route I'm going whenever I can take my camper off (need access to bed bolt).

Why do you need access to the bed bolts? I did'nt see anything in the online manual that said you have to drop the tank, or jack up the bed. I've never really taken a close look at the tank connection before (never a need to), but the directions said they pulled the bed for picture taking purposes.

They use one of the bed bolts to hold the mounting bracket.

I do have some pics...gotta make a gallery one of these days I guess ;-)

I have a question about the FASS II installation. Why do we need to replace a fuel line? Can't we just use the lines that came with the truck, and abandon the old pump? What am I not seeing here?

I think this pump is the answer to our LP concerns.

From what I hear of how they are installing it, it sounds like the pump is mounted very close to the tank, as an electric fuel pump should be, and it was probably easier for them to just run new lines than to tap into the factory metal lines. They are also eliminating the factory lift pump by replacing the main line also.
You could probably fashion something that could connect to the factory line if you wanted to, and wanted to keep the factory LP in the circuit also.

That makes sence now. I forgot about the metal lines. I have had the tank off my truck several times. Its not hard when its empty. I just use a floor jack to pump it back into position.

My new FASS II pump kit arrived last night. It looks very high quality and it's a bit heavier than I was expecting but it's a nice complete kit. I also got a bigger line fabbed up from Rip for the filter housing to the VP.
Rattletrap, I still don't think you need access to the bed. The bolt is one under the truck. It doesn't seem that you'd have to step a foot in the bed. I'm going to install it on Sunday or Monday, so I'll be able to tell for sure.
Geico266, both FASS systems (filter and non-filter) replace the fuel line with bigger 3/8"id hose and fittings. The FASS I (with filters) replaces from the tank to the VP44. The FASS II (without filters) replaces from the tank to the stock filter housing. In both cases the stock LP is removed. Just be sure to make a bigger line for the filter to VP connection.

Maybe for the original FASS....the one WITH FILTERS. Were talking about the new one....it's just a pump....no filters. They're calling it the "FASS HPFP" or Hi Performance Fuel Pump.
