New dyno numbers
#17
Now that's funny, wrong, but funny. TJ, didn't your mother teach you it is not nice to talk about people when they can't defend themselves. Congrats on the new numbers, let me know when you go back, I want to go.

Smarty-9 and TST-6 571hp 1047tq
Smarty-9 and TST-9 563hp 1015tq
Smarty-9 and TST-off 496hp 949tq
Smarty-Stock TST-off 469hp 908tq
No BBS here, I'm over 500, but chasing an almost impossible goal of 600, fuel only, single turbo, and still being drivable without smoking everyone out...

I've never heard of a Smarty giving best dyno results with sw #9-- usually it's #3 or #5, I hear.
I'd like to see what you'd get with SW#3 and TST 6- I bet you'd pickup a couple hp, and the peak TW should be noticeably higher because you're not bogging on the bottom.
What RPM is your peak TQ occurring at? How about peak HP?
With a factory HO cam, you'll see peak tq usually at 2000-2200 rpm or so. If it occurs earlier, then the turbo is too restrictive and you're hitting choked flow pretty early (that's my case with stock charger and 150hp sticks). If it occurs later, then you're overfueling and putting the fire out down low.

Interesting. TST 6 makes more power than TST 9.

I know Mike D was kind of the pioneer of sw3 on the Smarty at the track and I know he does get better track times with it. I think the theory is that 9 fuels too soon and the pump can't catch up. Sw3 leaves a little fuel for top end at the traps.
I've made track runs in sw3, sw7 and sw9 with all of my best times coming on the higher sw's. My theory is that in between shifts, the VP44 has a few fractions of a second to catch up where as on an auto truck you aren't giving the pump a breather. Those are my observations anyway.
