Another thumbs up for DTT here. The only thing I worry about now is what kind of stresses those hard shifts place on ring and pinion and driveshaft universals. I know my universals are on the way out already

The rear end seems very strong. I have checked my synthetic gear lube on two occasions, after a heavy day at the drag strip. Lots of 'mud' on the magnets but no bright colored shavings and no stress evident to the fluid. I run a temp gauge in my Mag Hy-Tec and hardly ever see higher that 180* when working differential hard. Can't recall hearing of any drag racers that have torn up their Dana 70 rear ends. Must be one or two somewhere but I've not seen it.
I change gear lube @ 30,000 miles as cheap insurance against wear and tear from racing and added HP. Would recommend the same to those that tow a lot and/or tow heavy!

Well, my DTT has lasted well over 200 000 kms (125 k miles) and doesn't give me troubles. I think I'm not too nice to it....but it just does it's job.
I think as long as you do the fluid changes and band adjustments you'll get a lot of life out of a DTT tranny.
