new cfm+ intake manifold
#31
Tri Valley Performance did a dyno test on the heater grid delete and the Intake horn upgrade. The proof is in the dyno test. Take a look. Diesels respond great to any intake upgrades, turbo's esp. are happy to have any restrictions relieved.

That is also on a CR engine. Will a 12v or 24v get that kind of a boost? A dyno would tell us, but to pony up and buy all three of them for a test is a bit much unless a shop is gonna do it.

Why would you remove your grid heaters unless it was a race type truck. Or you lived in warm climates all year long.
To me the difference in the intake and grid heater delete is not worth it.

2 questions:
1) Would all/any sort of aftermarket intake horn mandate the removal of factory grid heaters?
2) Is that AFE intake horn pictured on the prior post for 3rd gen only or is it also for 2nd gens? if not do they have one for 2nd gens?

The removal of the heater grid is not mandated... you can keep it. The removal of the heater grid showed some gains on the dyno, but not a lot. (like 6hp max).
The CFM+ horn showed upwards of 58 (? think) hp gain in the fat part of the rpm range. 1700-2100.
Yes, you would see similar gains on 12v and 24v. It will be proportional though.
I was a skeptic too... until I saw the results. So I tried it and yep, it is all good
