"New Breed" Turbos: T-netics, Garrett, ATS, HTT, and II..
OK fellas.
After far too many years of running stock airflow, I'm pondering a turbo upgrade.
Now, last time I was up on all this, the the B1 or a modded Holset was pretty much it. We had NONE of the great options we have now from II or HTT.
But I'm also intrigued about the newer BB chargers from Turbonetics and Garrett.
Since I'm a HUGE fan of Spearco intercoolers, I'm kinda looking at the Turbonetics. T-netics chargers are also well known for huge power in the turbo Mustang race classes.
So, who's running a Garrett or Turbonetics charger, and what do you think of it?
HOw does it compare to a traditional BW-Schwitzer based charger like the HTT, II, or Airwerks turbos based on the S300?
I'm thinking 62mm- class turbos, specifically.

Where you been HOHN, long time no see!
In your absence I've installed a Garrett GT4088R with a .85A/R housing...GT4088R Specs
Pics
It's a 63.5mm inducer compressor wheel...with the .85A/R housing it spools around 17-1800RPM. At least it did before I put this wild 913 pump on it...I'm still working on tuning this pump to get good numbers with this charger, so for now I'm testing again. As soon as Joefarmer get's his ProStreet 66 on we'll compare a liitle!! Before I switched pumps, boost was 42-44psi (still adjusting wastegate) and EGT's were under 1350*. After the pump, I still need to adjust the wastegate more, but boost and EGT's are close to the same...but the truck is A LOT faster!
We also put a Garrett Stage II on an 02 HO, 6spd, New VP, GDP fuel system, Smarty, and Jammer 5's. Spools OK, around 1600RPM she takes off, EGT's are 1250-1275* max, boost TBD (can't keep eyes on road and gauges at same time...rookies) He loves the charger!
AND, we put a Edge BB Jammer on a 99, 5spd, Edge Juice and 120hp injectors...it's a little laggy, spools about like my GT4088R, but cools that combo well. Boost at 36psi, EGT's at 1255* over 110mph. He likes it as well!
We're all dynoing April 14th...hopefully I'll get mine tuned in, but right now I like the charger. With smaller tires it would run a lot better, but these heavy 35" 19.5's make it smoke a bit on accelleration!
I would say a GT4082, or a 4088R would make a good turbo for a 24v...I'm fighting some surge problems that most 24v's wouldn't have. BUT, it would be a bit laggy on a high altitude 24v like yours. The 4088R has a big turbine wheel, and it is s bit slow to spool, but runs really good once it's spooled! If I had a stick I would really be in love with this thing

from what I have seen and built turbonetics also have a huge reputation of blowing up. I never had good luck with one and will never use another one. garrett has been making ball bearing turbos for a very long time, I prefer a garrett over most

Give up on your helix 2/ megamouth elbow/ hx35 idea?
II/HTT now have a several different housings and turbines for their 62's, but I doubt you'd be interested in that fun stuff at high altitude =\
