New Boost Fooler Idea

Hello,
I just joined this forum because I'm looking to improve the performance of my 2000 ram 2500 Auto. As of right now I don't want to really spend $500 on a good Fuel box and want to see If I can get more power without spending a lot of money. I'm going to buy some parts from a hardware store and build a turnbuckle to keep the waste gate closed and then all I need is a boost fooler. I was reading all about putting resistors inline to the computer and everything else when I found a web site that said people have just used a pressure regulator between the manifold and the map sensor. Would this work? Or has anyone here done this. I think I'm going to try this and I just wanted to know if you guys think I'll be safe running a closed waste gate with the HX35 turbo and stock injectors, I've read that with the stock injectors you really can't run enough fuel to over boost it and I just wanted to make sure. Thanks

Your not gonna gain any power by turning up the boost on a stock engine. You need more fuel to gain more power.

Boost alone does nearly zip in a diesel. You need fuel to mix with the added air.

In an EFI gasser increasing boost increses output (to a point), because the 'puter maintains a strict ratio. Add more air...puter adds more fuel within the limits of the injectors.

if you intend to play i hope you have a pyro, boost, and fuel pressure gauges.

I disagree. Without disabling the wastegate on my truck, I could never get over 18psi of boost. With wastegate disable via a plug in actuator line, I can hit 28psi, and truck runs alot stronger over 20psi boost. I have not figured out why my truck does not defuel over 20psi boost yet. It may be that previous owner put in a voltage regulator between MAP and ECM.

The easiest way to disable wastegate is simply buy a 1/8 npt plug from hardware store, and put it inplace of the boost elbow, then just seal up the elbow.

A very easy way to make a boost fooler is with a pressure regulator.

I took a manual adjust pressure regulator and set it at 20 psi and installed it between the manifold and the MAP. The ECM never see's over 20 psi so it never defuels.

My regulator cost about 20.00 and the **** was lockable so the setting could not be changed inadvertantly.

I ran this with my 3-light Edge for about 50K miles and never had a problem.
