New 4 in exhaust HELP

I am wanting to change my exhaust to 4 inch. When I purchased the truck it had stock exhaust straight piped behind the tranny and split to duals ran out the back. I loved the sound but it got overbearing on long trips pulling the horses. I added a walker muffler and it help. What exhaust system do y'all recommend and will a mufflered 4 in system be as loud or quieter than what i have now. What is the advantages/differences between a 3.5 down pipe and a 4 in down pipe Thanks Rog

Rog,

Get yourself a full 4" system (including downpipe). The muffler that comes with most aftermarket exhaust system does quieten the sound level some but not a whole lot because most are straight through design. MBRP makes some nice exhaust systems.

Your truck came from the factory with a resonator (looks like a cat)...is it still on the truck ir did the P.O. turf it? I belive there are aftermarket resonators available but dont know where to point you.

Just read your signature - yuur horses might need to get some earplugs...

I had a turbo back system on my 01.5, got if for less than $350.00 shipped from warpspeedperformance.com

Worked out really well, came with a "diamond eye" straight through design muffler that toned down the noise, but gave it a nice growl.

I'll put in a vote for mbrp, the hangers are welded to the pipes, not the clamps, I thought that was real nice for the install. Sounds good, not too loud, not too quiet.
Just look around for good deal, you shouldn't have to pay much over $300 for an aluminized system.

Another vote here for MBRP!!! Mine was a simple install. Thoughest part was cutting out my old stock system. Talk to Darrell at DPP, he was real helpful,
answered all my questions.

I really like my Diamond Eye system. It's only loud when I want it to be.
