Needing Some Help
Im getting ready to order a new converter, it has a lifetime warranty, and is gaurenteed for unlimited hp. I was told if you put a valve body/ shift kit it would throw cds out of the radio, and you can adjust the valve body on the converter. A guy here in SE ohio oders them from indiana so has anyone heard of any like this? Also once i get this i plan on either 370s or 375 marines, a 3k gsk, and #10 plate, with all this will a 16 turbo housing be enough to keep egts reasonable? If not what other mods do you guys reccomend? I want more power so please HELP.

I would buy it and then turn the HP up and go collect on the warranty. Its not just the TC that slips in these trucks..... All the clutches (especially 3rd) can/will slip. A new VB will help but to do it right you should add clutch packs to the other gears. Also with just a TC and no modified VB the line pressure is the same as stock so holding force inside the tranny isn't improved any.

You can adjust the vb on the converter, also what are clutch packs and what do they cost? So once that is done am i good to start adding performance products? Thanks

I am not sure how much clutch packs cost but they are what engages on the automatic transmissions to make things go. As the torque convertor starts to spin the clutch pack fingers go out and engage the transmission. This isn't a real good explaination, but it is the basics I think.
I but a VB on a 97 I had and it changed the shifting a lot. A lot firmer shifts. The only thing was that you had to let off the throttle for it to shift when really getting on it. It would have been great if I would have put a different TC in it also, not enough money at the time for that. If you are going to do upgrades, I would do both. The TC will take care of slippage and the VB will give the TC the needed pressure to help keep it cool. If you are going to take the time and money to put a TC in it you might as well do it right.
