Interesting info on the GT37. I let my TDR subscription expire when I had to part with my truck for awhile. Now I just harass the poor DTR community instead of BOTH forums.
I had my suspicions on the GT37.

Well if folks are popping those cometic MLS gaskets, lets not forget the folks out there that are popping o-rings just the same.
aside from machining for flatness I dont know what else you could do to guarantee the best seal. does a crosshatch help or hurt seal? What about polishing the surface?
Id want studs installed on anything with more air, timing or chemicals. they raise cyl pressures and the chances of popping a HG.
Thats a huge wheel on that GT37. how laggy would it be compared to a PS62?
GT32 or GT35 looks more in line with a good 500hp street/tow DD. you think?
prices arent half bad either. I was expecting a bigger pricetag with all this talk about garretts

Check out post #12. 200-400 faster spool and lower egts. I've found the journal bearing gt37's for under a grand too =P

Hammer tells me he sees 5-7psi of boost on the hwy with the cruise control set (level ground).
Since I see 8-10psi with my stock charger, that tells me that the boost threshold is not much higher with this Garrett than with my stocker, meaning lag is very manageable.
Keep in mind that Hammer has the stg 3 with the .99 A/R housing. If a guys went with the stg 2 or stg 1 with the .89 A/R housing, I'd expect it would be VERY close to stock spoolup and you should have about the same amount of boost on the hwy.
Sorry to continue OT-- it's all Jetty's fault!

I run fire-rings and 12mm studs. It has been standing up to two stages of nitrous, huge amounts of fuel, 2x625 ml nozzle at 220psi 50/50 water meth, 80+ psi boost from my twin set up and on occasion some nasty egts and drive pressures.
I was told that fire rings were not good for the street but I have had no problems. $500 for the fire rings and $425 for the studs = I dont have to worry much.

I pulled the head and just on luck I had to go to SLC for work. I took it with me and dropped it off at Wild Diesel in Ogden. Picked it back up two days later on my way home.
