What kind of truck does he have? Year, mods, etc. A stock truck could hand a 20HP shot of nitrous no problem. A truck on the edge with stock head and studs could not handle 20HP shot of nitrous. No stock truck could handle a 200 HP shot! So lots of variables, if you give members the whole picture, you will get better feedback.

Yeah, he will need studs, in fact, I can't believe his head does leak as it is. Does he thrash on it much?

My old man never hot rods, he could run nos, meth, twins, and Mach 8's with a stock head and a stock tranny!

My old man is worse than i am! He cant drive it without smokin someone out. His Liscense plate says "SMOKINU"....HEHE I think i am goin to talk dad into a cosmetic hg and get him to stay away from cuttin up his head and block. he just wants the nitrous to get the edge over a certain person at our next local dyno days. Dads pickup is in Diesel Power Mag (december 2007) pg. 138 and 143. His name is mark.

I would stay away from the Cometic gasket..... I have fielded about 10 calls in the last 2 weeks from blown Cometic HG's. Appears they are not all olding as advertised.

Are those Co(s)metic ones just for looks?

Seriously, what do you suspect is the problem? Surface prep? Clamping force? Gasket design?

Justin,

I wish I knew..... The guys I have talked with told me how they prepped the surface and installed the gasket and it all sounded good.

On another note did you see the article in the TDR mag on replacing a II PS62 with a garrett GT37 from Turbo re-source? Pretty interesting, picked up HP and TQ, also hit peak number 200-400 rpm lower! Egt's were down 100* for the same run and higher HP. The turbo is pretty much a direct bolt up except for the H2O lines.
