hey guys im looking at possibly buying a 24v cummins.... had a 3rd gen for awhile.... money got tight and bought an obs 7.3 powerstroke. Its a good truck but I want something else. Anyway Im looking for a 24v cummins 4x4. And was wondering what kind of 1/4 mile time I can do on a basically stock tranny maybe just a vb.... since I know that the tranny is what hold me back. Also I dont know what to look for are any 98.5-2002 truck the same for making good power. And How can I find out if I am looking at a "53 Block"? Thanks just want some basic does and donts on 24vs. Whats the best chip?

On a stock tranny you can add 70hp safely if you are not drag racing it.

If you drag race it you will break it with stock power. The 47RE is not tough by any stretch of the imagination.

You need a converter and VB at minimum and this might be you up to 350-400 at the tires. This makes it close to being as tough as the stock 48RE in the CR trucks.

i have a 01 with a edge comp afe stage 2 intake edge turbo mbrp 5 inch exhuast and a bully dog big fuel kit and i ran the truck for 30000 miles and it is just now starting to slip. maybe i got lucky but its not worth running mods and never knowing when the tranny going to go out. oh and i raced the crap out of it. i now have 105000 miles
